Who is This Book For?
This book is for everyone looking to lower their stress, boost their energy, manage their weight better and improve their overall health and well being. The key to doing this is to learn how to take care of your adrenal glands in order to empower your own natural stress fighting abilities. This information is largely unknown to the public and it shows. Many common diets and lifestyles the world over are quite abusive to the adrenal glands and in turn an epidemic of adrenal fatigue is in process. I, myself, live in the United States and everyday see more and more people struggling as the economic troubles continue to grow. Some people are in the process of losing everything from dreams to relationships to possessions. These troubling times are a significant test on your adrenal glands and unfortunately most people are barely passing or are failing this test. With adrenal fatigue comes irritability, loss of energy, anxiety, digestive issues, weight gain, insomnia, diminished sex drive, increased personal problems and an ever persistent lack of enjoyment for life. This makes for a difficult existence which is hard to escape from as you will see from my personal story below. The good news is you don’t have to suffer through all this; you can recover and get your life back. Or if you’re just experiencing more stress lately and are beginning to feel worn out you can get feeling better!
My Story
If you have found this site, then it is very likely you are overburdened from stress.
The surprising thing is that knowing how to combat this condition is very poorly understood, even by the medical community.
I learned this the hard way when I was in the process of going through a nervous breakdown while working in a difficult job situation in New York City. After seeing various doctors, I was repeatedly told that there was nothing wrong with me and perhaps I needed antidepressants.
During this time, my energy was waning severely. At work I was having trouble concentrating and felt overwhelmed. I was constantly irritable and getting into conflicts with others. When the evening came I felt better and had more energy but I also had difficulty sleeping and was having anxiety attacks sometimes in the middle of the night. I regularly began to feel like a drained battery and whatever sleep I was able to get did not leave me feeling recharged. Sugar seemed to provide relief for my anxiety and irritability but afterwards I just felt worse. Often times when walking about and doing my daily activities, I felt dizzy like I was going to pass out. My sex drive had become weak and I started feeling unhappy and depressed most the time. I drank occasionally to escape this hell, but when the “high” wore off I felt agitated and my energy would be shot for days. To top it all off, my digestion was poor and I was putting on extra weight.
My life was a nightmare. Living alone, I had little emotional support to help me.
This is when I went to the Internet and out of desperation researched what I was experiencing. My findings led me to become aware of a condition that defines “Burnout” or having a “Nervous Breakdown” and it is called “Adrenal Fatigue.”
Why was the medical community unable to tell me I had this? It is a great question and there are many reasons why. Here are a few: (1) Standard medical testing is not able to detect it—it requires a saliva test to measure hormone levels throughout the day (2) It has only become a well understood and diagnosable medical condition in the past decade of which only a minority of doctors are aware. And (3) there are currently no known drugs to facilitate healing of the adrenal glands.
It’s important to note there is a life-threatening and well recognized condition called “Addison’s Disease,” where the adrenal glands barely function. Sometimes people with severe adrenal fatigue have been diagnosed with this. John F Kennedy had a severe case of adrenal fatigue resulting from wartime trauma. To combat this he constantly took Cortisol and other hormone supplements to function in his daily life up until his death.
So, how does one recover from adrenal fatigue? Well, unfortunately, not many people do.
I was able to recover myself somewhat by studying all the information available on adrenal fatigue. Much of this information consisted of dietary recommendations, supplements and lifestyle changes needed to allow one to naturally heal their adrenal glands and combat fatigue. I spent a great deal of time researching all this information, understanding why each thing was important and in some cases improving upon the advice with considerations for things like organic foods and lifestyle habits I found were holding me back that there was no mention of.
Along the way, I got laid off from my job and was able to take some extra time off to focus even more on what little things I could do to speed up my recovery.
Also, along the way, I shared much of this information with co-workers, many of whom were overburdened from stress. They all reported vast improvements in their ability to handle stress as well as in their well being and overall health.
That’s when I realized this information shouldn’t only be for people recovering from burnout and adrenal fatigue. This information should be available for anyone looking to reduce their stress, improve their energy and better maintain their overall health and well being!
Unfortunately, this information is not readily available or well known. From that realization came the idea for a simple, to-the-point and inexpensive e-book.
Why did I choose the site name, seriousstressreduction.com? Because it is about serious stress reduction. It is not about stress relief or mildly helpful mental tricks. I wanted to differentiate my website from the general stress relief related websites, which I don’t believe are very helpful.
